Maynooth Library hosted an Easter Holidays Creative Writing Competition for Ages 7-12 and was overwhelmed by the exceptional talent on display in the entries. The winning story from the 7-9 category is the witty and playful \u00e2\u20ac\u02dcFizzelpoz and Snezywooz\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 by Finley who is 8 years old. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fizzelpoz and Snezywooz<\/u><\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fizzelpoz was a small boy. Nobody could smell his name…. Whoops I meant spell his name. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Other kids made fun of his name, which made Fizzelpoz sad. This was odd because it was fun to say. \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Fizzelpoz\u00e2\u20ac\u009d and just saying \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Fizzelpoz\u00e2\u20ac\u009d makes you happy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Go ahead say it \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Fizzelpoz\u00e2\u20ac\u009d….. It\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s fun. Isn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t it?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Anywho back to the story….<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It was a fine Spring day and Fizzelpoz was enjoying the sunshine in his local park. As he stood admiring the beautiful daffodils he met a girl called Snezywoooz.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u00e2\u20ac\u0153What\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s your name?\u00e2\u20ac\u009d said Snezywoooz. \u00e2\u20ac\u0153I\u00e2\u20ac\u2122m Fizzelpoz\u00e2\u20ac\u009d said Fizzelpoz.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u00e2\u20ac\u0153That\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s a beautiful name, I love it,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d said Snezywooz.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At that moment, the world stopped spinning, it went silent, except for Garda Jones who was stuffing his face with Easter Eggs, but that is not the point of this story…<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This was the greatest day of Fizzelpoz’s life, he finally made a true friend. Two minutes later after an intense stare and some background noise … nom nom nom … “What\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s your name?” said Fizzelpoz. \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Snezywooz\u00e2\u20ac\u009d she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This friendship would last a lifetime.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Suddenly, there was a loud nose … \u00e2\u20ac\u0153ahhh-chooo\u00e2\u20ac\u009d… went an old lady.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As part of the same suddenly there was a loud noise \u00e2\u20ac\u0153bang, clang, karthump\u00e2\u20ac\u009d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“What\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s that?” said Fizzelpoz. “Look!” said Snezywooz.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Garda Jones was running after someone. \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Get back Rickfrinkleton, put the money down!\u00e2\u20ac\u009d he shouted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Look Snezywooz” said Fizzelpoz, “it’s Rickfrinkleton. He\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s a very bad man who\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s robbed 900 banks in 1 year and he\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s the leader of a group of gangsters called The Bank Robbers”.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u00e2\u20ac\u0153Let\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s stop him!\u00e2\u20ac\u009d said Fizzelpoz. “Sure!” said Snezywooz. “What else would we be doing?”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So they asked the old lady for her snotty walking stick. “Ok” she said,”but don\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t forget to give it back, old granny needs her snot catcher\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6ahhh-chooo…\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u00e2\u20ac\u0153Thank you very much, we will be back soon\u00e2\u20ac\u009d said Fizzelpoz.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Seconds later, Fizzelpoz and Snezywooz hid behind a bush and launched the snotty walking stick at Rickfrinkleton. It missed him by a good 2 feet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As the stick hit the ground it sprayed snot everywhere. Rickfrinkleton slipped and fell bashing his head against a giant green gooey snot, which made him feel quite ill.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Garda Jones put Rickfrinkleton in handcuffs and sent him to jail. Fizzelpoz and Snezywooz appeared on the front page of the local paper and were town heroes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This was the beginning of a long friendship between Fizzelpoz and Snezywooz with many adventures and great days ahead….. Or was it….<\/p>\n\n\n\n

PS. Before I end the story, yes the old granny got her snotty walking stick back.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
