{"id":4810,"date":"2022-02-23T14:24:12","date_gmt":"2022-02-23T14:24:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/kildarelibrariesblog.com\/?p=4810"},"modified":"2022-02-23T14:24:12","modified_gmt":"2022-02-23T14:24:12","slug":"squeeze-in-a-read-for-ireland-reads-2022","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/kildarelibraries.ie\/blog\/squeeze-in-a-read-for-ireland-reads-2022\/","title":{"rendered":"Squeeze in a Read for &#8216;Ireland Reads 2022&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"559\" height=\"420\" src=\"https:\/\/kildarelibraries.ie\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/ir-logo-1.png?w=559\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-4785\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Libraries throughout County Kildare are taking part in \u00e2\u20ac\u02dcIreland Reads\u00e2\u20ac\u2122, a campaign to get the whole country reading this month in the lead up to a National Day of Reading on Friday, 25<sup>th<\/sup>&nbsp;February, where everyone will be asked to \u00e2\u20ac\u02dcsqueeze in a read\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 for \u00e2\u20ac\u02dcIreland Reads\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 Day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><br>Libraries in Kildare and around the country have teamed up with publishers, booksellers, authors, and others for the campaign, which is part of the government\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s Healthy Ireland programme and aims to celebrate reading and all the benefits it can have for wellbeing and enjoyment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A pledge to read can be made at&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.irelandreads.ie\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">www.irelandreads.ie<\/a>&nbsp;where you can see how much reading time has been pledged by the Irish public so far and sign up for reading reminders. The website also offers book recommendations suited to a person\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s interests and the time they have available. There are more than 1,500 recommendations from librarians all around the country for all interests and reading levels.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Campaign partners and libraries all over the country will be running \u00e2\u20ac\u02dcIreland Reads\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 initiatives and events throughout February. As part of the Little Libraries initiative, all early learning and care settings will be invited to an Ireland Reads event through their local library.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A number of well-known campaign ambassadors are on board to help promote the campaign, including Marian Keyes, Joe Duffy, Colm T\u00c3\u00b3ib\u00c3\u00adn, Rick O\u00e2\u20ac\u2122Shea, Liz Nugent and more.
