However, if you are a Horror fan, and love a good psychological thriller, then read on. This is easily one of the creepiest books I’ve ever read. The twists weren’t obvious and it certainly kept me on my toes.

The trouble starts when two teenagers, Sophie and Jay, are messing with a Ouija Board, in a café. Thinking it is harmless fun, they try to contact Sophie’s dead cousin Rebecca. Very quickly their innocent endeavour turns sour.

Suddenly the lights of the busy cafe flicker, then all the lights go out. A waitress is screaming, having been burnt by a fire in the kitchen. In the foggy haze a ghost appears, but only to Sophie. The Ouija Board also predicts that one of them will die that night. Even though both teenagers are a bit shaken, the laugh off the threat and go their separate ways to go home.

Whether it was the Ouija Board or fate, Jay does not make it home. He falls off his bike and drowns in a canal, despite being a good swimmer. Sophie is heartbroken. She wants the ground to swallow her up and stay under the bed covers forever. She does not want to face the reality that her best friend is gone for good. Sophie is convinced that her dead cousin, Rebecca, and supernatural forces were the cause of Jay’s death.

Sophie decides to stay at her Uncle’s house in Scotland. She is on a mission and is determined to find out whether her dead cousin, Rebecca, who died in this house, has anything to do with Jay’s death. The place is creepy with creaking floorboards and is badly lit. it is perched on the edge of a dangerous, sheer cliff. The wind rattles against the locked windows and all sorts of noises can be heard at night. Not only is Sophie woken up from blood curdling noises, she senses that she is being scratched and attacked by tiny hands.

Sophie can only take so many, terrifying nights. She wants to go home earlier than planned. However, the thought of Jay is niggling at her. She remembers why she came to this desolate house in the first place.

Be prepared to be spooked. As I said at the start, this book is not for the faint-hearted.

Would you like to borrow a physical copy of this title?
