LEINSTER LEADER 28 JUNE  1952

American Visitor

An interesting visitor to Leixlip is Mr James Harte of New Jersey, U.S.A., who left his native Leixlip in 1928. “That was the time of the bread queues,” stated Mr. Harte, “and thing were very bad over there, but America has enjoyed extra ordinary prosperity since.”

Mr. Harte, expressed his satisfaction at the progress made in this country and particularly in Leixlip and adjoining areas.  He commented on the large number of new houses and the welcome strides in the electrification of the urban and rural districts.  He reflected, however, that the refrigeration system could be utilised to a much greater extent with lasting benefits to all concerned in this country.  Mr. Harte, who is having a six weeks holiday in this country, has a brother and three sisters in addition to his father still residing in Leixlip.
