COURTHOUSE PLAQUE COMMEMORATES HIM

Naas memorial to solicitor unveiled

Colleagues and other friends of the late Martin Salmon, former State Solicitor for County Kildare, gathered at the Courthouse, Naas, on Saturday for the unveiling of a plaque erected in his memory. The plaque has been erected inside the main entrance. It is in terracotta relief and was designed by Christopher Ryan A.N.C.A., Dublin. It depicts St. Brigid and on it are inscribed the words: “Erected to Martin Salmon, State Solicitor, by his friends.”

The unveiling was done by Circuit Court Judge K. Deale who said that the interesting impression of the late Martin Salmon was that he was a man of great quality. Meeting him in Court he knew him to be an excellent lawyer and he had the highest regard for him. He congratulated those responsible for erecting such a worthy memorial to a good man. Judge Deale was introduced by Mr. Patrick J. O’Neill, County Registrar, who said that during his term as State Solicitor Martin Salmon had brought distinction to the position. “To many of us here,” he added, “he was not alone a Naas man but also a personal friend and we wish to take this opportunity of paying tribute to him for the distinction which he brought to his profession.”
