D.S.O. for Athy Naval Surgeon

Amongst those mentioned in despatches from the Dardanelles in connection with the landing of the Dublin and Munster Fusiliers is Surgeon P. B. Kelly, R.N., attached to R.N.A.S., who was wounded in the foot on the morning of the 25th April in the River Clyde. He remained in the River Clyde until the morning of the 27th, during which time he attended 750 wounded men, although in great pain and unable to walk during the last twenty-four hours. Surgeon Kelly is son of the late Mr. Gilbert Kelly, Clerk of the Crown and Peace for Queen’s Co., and of Mrs Kelly. The Abbey, Athy, He is a nephew of Dr. O’Neil, J.P., Athy, and Mrs. P. J. Corcoran. He was educated at Castleknock and Cecilia Street School of Medicine. He played rugby for Lansdowne and cricket for Co. Kildare.
