Death of Michael Collins, Athy

Mr. Michael Collins, Clogorra, Athy, who died last week at the age of 82 was ex-Irish Guardsman who fought in the 1914-‘18 War.

When The last English monarch to visit Ireland arrived here in 1910 the deceased was on parade in the Phoeninx Park. When he left the British Army he worked with C.I.E. until he retired on pension. He was interred in St Michael’s Cemetery Athy.

The day after Mr. Collins’s Death his brother-in-law, Mr Timothy Smith, who had lived with him also died. He was aged 75. He was interred in Geraldine Cemetery.
