A Little bit of History

Frank Taaffe reaches a momentous milestone with the publication in this week’s Kildare Nationalist of his 1,500th article for his ‘Eye on the Past’ column. Barbara Sheridan, editor of Kildare Nationalist said, ‘Little did I think when I asked Frank all those years ago if he would be interested in writing a history column for the Kildare Nationalist that the Eye on the Past column would still be going almost 30 years later. But the reason it is still going is that Frank continues to unearth wonderful stories about the ordinary people of Athy and Kildare.’ This momentous occasion garnered a mention on RTE radio’s The Ryan Tubridy Show in what fellow columnist Liam Kenny noted was: ‘National recognition for a local historian.’

In February 2012 ehistorykildare marked Frank’s 1000th article and today we congratulate Frank on reaching another milestone of 1,500 articles.
