Miss Marie Ni Raghallaigh, Dublin
Old friends in Naas will regret to learn of the death of Miss Marie Ni Raghallaigh, Upper Dorset St., Dublin. Deceased was upwards of 20 years a law clerk in the firm of Messrs. Brown & McCann, solrs., and was esteemed and respected by all sections of the community. Her father Mr O’Raghallaigh was a National Teacher in Clongorey, Rathmore and Athgarvan schools. Miss Ni Raghallaigh was very well-known in the Irish language movement which was her life’s ambition, and she also rendered sterling service to the National cause during the troubled times. She was the proprietress of a noted bookshop in Dorset St. She was a native of Co. Meath.
An Taoiseach, with Mrs. De Valera, Tomas O Deirg, Oidechais; and Proinnsias O Fathalegh, Ceann Comhairle. Attended the funeral on Monday, which took place from St. Francis Xavier’s Church, Gardiner St., to Barrettstown, Droichead Nua, Co. Kildare.
The chief mourners were – S. Nic Eochagain, Eugene and Mrs. Duffy, M. J. and Mrs. Kenny, Leo Kenny, Mrs. Florence O’Connell, Mr. O’Connell, Mr. and Mrs. Coyle, Miss O’Neill, J. Geraghty, Bernard O’Reilly, Mrs. Knox Peebles and T. Nulty.
Requiem Mass was offered by Rev. J. McSheehan, S.J., and other priests present were – Very Rev. M. Kirwan, S.J. Superior, Gardiner Street; Rev. M. Quinlan, S.J., Rev. P. O’Mara, S.J.; Rev. Dr. Eiric Mac Fhinn, Professor, U.C.G.; Rev. Father Declan, O.D.C., and Rev. Father O’Higgins, C.C., Harrington St.
The attendance included Ald. Cormac Breathnach, Senator Liam O Buachalla, President Conradh na Geadhlige; Brian Mac Giolla Phadraig, Liam Pedlar, Circulation Manager, Irish Press; Seamus O Suilleabhain, An Seabhac agus a bhean. Michael O Fogoladha, Art O Riain agus a bhean, Art Breathnach, Padraig Foira Aghas, Roisin Breathnach, Padraig Og O Conaire, Ceallachan Mac Carthaigh, Art O Conchubhair.
