Mr. Ted Curtis, Nicholastown, Athy, who died last week, served with the British Army in World War I. Three of his brothers were killed in the same conflict. Later he was prominent in the national movement and when the Free State was established served with the Irish Army for some time. Retiring from army life he worked in agriculture and was caretaker of Nicholastown cemetery for several years. He was a widower. The remains were removed to St. Michael’s Church, Athy and the funeral took place to Nicholastown Cemetery after Requiem Mass. The coffin was draped in the tricolor and military honours were rendered at the graveside by an army unit from the Curragh Training Camp.
