Serving as President of the County Kildare Archaeological Society from March 1928 up to the time of his passing, George Mansfield was also a founder member of the County Kildare Golf Club and also heavily involved with the Kildare Hunt and the County (Cricket) Club over many years. Born in 1845 at Morristown Lattin, he married a French native Alice de Férussac in 1877 and succeeded his father in the family estate in 1889. Much of the Morristown Lattin Estate was subsequently acquired by the Land Commission and divided in the early 1930s.
