Obituary. Mr. Bernard Noud, Curragh

Mr. Bernard Noud, Brownstown, Curragh, who died in Naas Hospital, was a former freedom fighter and Commandant of 6th Batt., Old I.R.A. in the Suncroft Curragh area during the pro-Treaty struggle. After the Treaty he joined the newly formed Irish Army serving with the rank of Commandant for ten years after which he returned to civilian life. He farmed the family holding at Brownstown throughout his life, took a very keen interest in parish affairs and was associated with Kildare Brigade, Old I.R.A.

He is survived by his wife, Julia Ann; son, Rev. Daniel Noud, Tanzania, East Africa; daughters Mrs. Sheila Wilson, London and Mrs. Dolores O’Keefe, Brownstown; brother, Peter; sons-in-law, grandchildren, nephews, nieces and other relatives.

Full military honours were accorded at the interment at New Cemetery, Suncroft, following concelebrated Mass in St. Brigid’s Parish Church, Suncroft. Serving members of the sixth old I.R.A. Battalion formed a guard of honour and a military party from 3rd Batt., Curragh, was under Sergt. James Brennan. Sergt. Ray McNamara was bugler. Old I.R.A. Brigade Sec. Tommy O’Connell, Kildare, acted as martial.
