Oral History Collections In Kildare Local Studies
Kildare Local Studies holdings include a significant and varied collection of oral history recordings in various formats that have been collected and deposited over many years.
Highlights include:
- William Kelly collection of recordings with individuals from the South Kildare area
- Joe Dunne’s self-recorded tapes of life in Newbridge throughout the 20th Century
- Irish Life & Lore series including the ‘Kildare collection’ commissioned by Kildare County Council. Kildare interviewees also feature prominently in the ‘Bord na Móna’ and ‘Horse-Racing Ireland collections’.
- ‘Save Our Stories’ series of recordings of over sixty individuals throughout County Kildare undertaken in the 2010s.
