Patrick Brennan, Monasterevan

Mr. Fintan Brennan, Athy, retired District Court Registrar, was bereaved by the death last week in Dublin of his brother, Mr. Patrick Brennan. Aged 84 and native of Monasterevan, the deceased was a member Boland’s Mills garrison during the 1916 Rising, and was later active in the War for Independence. He operated a dairy business at Drimnagh, Dublin. Shortly after going to live in Dublin he joined E Company, 3rd Battalion, Dublin Brigade. Following the Rising, he was interned at Frongoch. After the Treaty he fought on The Republican side. He is also survived by his wife and his brother, Rev. Brother Michael Brennan, C.B.S. Artane, sister Mrs. Annie Maher, Coole, Monasterevan. Mr. T. R. Brennan, State Solicitor for Kildare is a nephew. President De Valera attended the funeral, which took place to Glasnevin Cemetery.
