CARE COMMITTEE FORMED IN KILDARE

It was decided at a meeting in Naas of the Kildare section of the National Graves Association to look after the graves of those in Kildare who fell in the struggles for Irish freedom. Mr. Sean Fitzpatrick, Dublin, was present

It was decided to erect a memorial on Milltown Bridge to the memory of Mr. Joseph Bergin, intelligence office, I.R.A. who gave his life in the defence of the Republic and whose body was found at that spot.

The Chairman (Mr. D. Collins) stated that Naas Urban Council had handed over to their care a plot in St. Corban’s Cemetery, where lay the remains of Sean O’Sullivan, who died in Ballykinlar, and two other soldiers who died in the same cause.

A representative committee was formed embracing the following areas: Droichead Nua – Michael Sheehan, A. O’Brien, P. Dunne, W. Colohan; Naas – M. J. O’Donoghue (Secretary), Dominick Collins, T. O’Flaherty; Ballysax – E. Moran; Eadestown – A. Farrell, O. Tyrrell; Straffan – John Ashe; Narraghmore – P. Kelly; Calverstown – P. Cosgrave; Kildare – T. Walsh; Celbridge – T. Kiely; Ballymore – Frank Driver.
