Thoughts On The Establishment of New Manufactures in Ireland (1783)
Robert Brooke founded a Cotton Manufacturing enterprise in 1780 in Co. Kildare. The village of Prosperous owes its origin to his endeavours. The attempt failed badly and was abandoned within a short number of years. Brooke subsequently became Governor of St. Helena.
