The Gathering<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

For many years the Irish were forced out of their home<\/p>\n

And like the wandering nomad\u2019s they started to roam<\/p>\n

In far foreign countries a living to find<\/p>\n

With thoughts of their family\u2019s and homes on their mind<\/p>\n

America, Australia, and Great Britain, too<\/p>\n

We\u2019re glad of the Irish and what they could do<\/p>\n

And in Argentina a man called Tom Brown<\/p>\n

Said \u201cStand up like the Irish and don\u2019t be put down.\u201d<\/p>\n

So in that great country so far far away<\/p>\n

They still honour that man to this very day<\/p>\n

And even in America the great USA<\/p>\n

When their civil war started sure we had our say<\/p>\n

As you see around the world we\u2019re held in esteem<\/p>\n

Sure there\u2019s no place on earth that we haven\u2019t been<\/p>\n

We have our own problems as you understand<\/p>\n

But when someone else calls we lend them a hand.<\/p>\n

In sport or in business we have a great name<\/p>\n

Our music and dancing sure it\u2019s just the same<\/p>\n

And be it at home or far far away.<\/p>\n

The world wants to be Irish on Saint Patrick\u2019s Day<\/p>\n

Our poets and our scholars are also well known,<\/p>\n

As they speak form the heart about country and home<\/p>\n

So when you meet the Irish say it\u2019s a soft day<\/p>\n

For a smile and a handshake is the auld Irish way<\/p>\n

The call has gone out to the Irish today<\/p>\n

Please come home and help us this tax for us to pay<\/p>\n

For the TD\u2019s and bankers have brought us great shame<\/p>\n

And almost destroyed the Irish good name<\/p>\n

I know we can count on you all for to come<\/p>\n

Just think of the people who won our freedom<\/p>\n

Oh, Lord I think they would turn in their grave<\/p>\n

And try to come back our country to save<\/p>\n

The year of the gathering is 2013<\/p>\n

Let\u2019s make it the greatest anyone\u2019s ever seen<\/p>\n

With pride in our heart once again we\u2019ll walk tall<\/p>\n

So Cead Mile Failte to you one and all.<\/p>\n
