Brennan<\/b><\/p>\n<p>An Athy-born man rose in the ranks to become a Head Constable in the R.U.C. died recently at home in Belfast at the age of 69. He was Mr. Michael J. Brennan, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Michael Brennan, and brother of Mr. Matthew Brennan, Offaly Street, Athy. In 1920, he joined the R.I.C. and served in Cork City until the force was disbanded. Having joined the R.U.C. in 1922, he was promoted Sergeant in 1928 and Head Constable in 1935.<\/p>\n<p>He received many medals, including the Long Service Medal for exemplary service, and the Queen\u2019s Police Medal at Buckingham Palace for distinguished police service.
