KILDARE<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>BRANCH ESTABLISHED AT NEWBRIDGE<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A very largely attended meeting was held in the Town Hall, Newbridge for the purpose of establishing a branch of the Gaelic League in the district. The Very Rev, Father M\u2019Cormack, O.P., Prior Dominican College, presided, and amongst those present were: &#8211; Rev. J. O\u2019Kelly, O.P. ; Dr. L. Rowan, J.S. O\u2019Grady, R.D.C. ; J.E. O\u2019Reilly, Messrs. Holohan, O\u2019Hagan, and Kelly. Executive Committee (Dublin) \u2013 Mr. P. H. Pearse, B.D., B.L. Keating Branch (Dublin) Messrs. T. Hayes, V.P.; P. A. Foley, and J. F. O\u2019 Kelly, hon. secs., and J. M. O\u2019Keeffe.<\/p>\n<p>The Very Rev. Chairman explained the objects of the meeting, and in a vigorous speech commended the work of the Gaelic League to the consideration of the meeting.<\/p>\n<p>Letters of apology for non-attendance, and expressing sympathy with the Irish language movement, were read from the Right Rev. Monsignor Tynan, P.P. ; Rev H. Cullen, C.C.; Messrs. E. Leamy, M.P.; J. Cribbin C.C.; and P. J. Keawell, Dublin, the latter of whom suggested that the branch might find it convenient to co-operate with Naas, Celbridge, Clane, Sallins, Dunlavin, etc., for the purpose of securing the services of a native Irish speaker as a travelling teacher.<\/p>\n<p>Resolutions were adopted expressing approval of the objects of the Gaelic League, and establishing a branch of the League, in the district. A resolution in favour of encouraging Irish Industries was also passed.<\/p>\n<p>At the conclusion of the meeting Gaelic songs were sung.
