{"id":2451,"date":"2015-09-19T08:44:19","date_gmt":"2015-09-19T08:44:19","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.kildare.ie\/ehistory\/?p=2451"},"modified":"2015-09-19T08:44:19","modified_gmt":"2015-09-19T08:44:19","slug":"courthouse-plaque-commemorates-him","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/kildarelibraries.ie\/ehistory\/courthouse-plaque-commemorates-him\/","title":{"rendered":"COURTHOUSE PLAQUE COMMEMORATES HIM"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><em>LEINSTER LEADER<\/em> November 6 1965<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>COURTHOUSE PLAQUE COMMEMORATES HIM<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Naas memorial to solicitor unveiled<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Colleagues and other friends of the late Martin Salmon, former State Solicitor for County Kildare, gathered at the Courthouse, Naas, on Saturday for the unveiling of a plaque erected in his memory. The plaque has been erected inside the main entrance. It is in terracotta relief and was designed by Christopher Ryan A.N.C.A., Dublin. It depicts St. Brigid and on it are inscribed the words: \u201cErected to Martin Salmon, State Solicitor, by his friends.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The unveiling was done by Circuit Court Judge K. Deale who said that the interesting impression of the late Martin Salmon was that he was a man of great quality. Meeting him in Court he knew him to be an excellent lawyer and he had the highest regard for him. He congratulated those responsible for erecting such a worthy memorial to a good man. Judge Deale was introduced by Mr. Patrick J. O\u2019Neill, County Registrar, who said that during his term as State Solicitor Martin Salmon had brought distinction to the position. \u201cTo many of us here,\u201d he added, \u201che was not alone a Naas man but also a personal friend and we wish to take this opportunity of paying tribute to him for the distinction which he brought to his profession.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Among attendance were Mrs. R. O\u2019Neill, solicitor, Naas, Mr. B. Price, Solicitor, Naas, Mr. P. Farrell, solicitor, Naas, Sen. P. Malone, Kill, Mr. P. Cox, Droichead Nua, Comdt. J. Bergin, Kill, Secretary of the Organising Committee, Mr. Gaffney, B.L., Mr. P. Farrington, Naas, Mr. T. Brophy, Droichead Nua, Mrs. P. Maginn, Curragh, Mrs. P. Fitzsimons, Naas, Mr. and Mrs. T. Nixon, Naas, Mr. B. Brophy, Naas, Mr. and Mrs. Armstrong, Dublin, Sgt. J. Casey, Naas, and J.
