WHITE (Nebraska)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The death took place in Nebraska, Omaha, U.S.A., of Mr. Paddy Whyte, formerly of South Main Street, Naas. He was a member of a family which took an active part in the War of Independence. With his brothers Jimmy and Mick, both deceased, he was on the run for some time during the Troubles. The family were so noted for their Republican activities that their house was a target for the Auxiliaries, who decided to burn it down. They were told it was beside the R.I.C. station. However, they picked the wrong premises and burned Boushell\u2019s on the other side of the street. The premises was re-built.<\/p>\n<p>In recent years it became part of the \u201cLeinster Leader\u201d offices. The family had a newsagent\u2019s business (now Hayde\u2019s) but emigrated to America in the early thirties. A sister, Mrs. J. Cassidy (Maisie) lives in Nebraska.
