William Ridgeway Shackleton, the pilot of a meteor jet fighter, <\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-size: 10pt;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">which crashed at Marishanger, near Basingstoke, Hants., was second son of <\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-size: 10pt;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">Mr. Richard Shackleton, &#8220;Glen Mona,&#8221; Moone, Co. Kildare. Lieut. <\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-size: 10pt;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">Shackleton&#8217;s father, who died about three months ago, was a cousin of <\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-size: 10pt;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">Sir Ernest Shackleton, the explorer. His uncle was Colonel Ridgeway, <\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-size: 10pt;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">formerly of Carlow. <\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<div align=\"justify\"><span style=\"font-size: 10pt;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">Deceased, who was aged about thirty years, was educated at the Royal <\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-size: 10pt;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">School, Armagh, and later joined the British Navy, air pilot arm.
