John Bonham, C.B.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0The death took place on May 1, at Ballintaggart, Colbinstown, Co. Kildare, of Colonel John Bonham, C.B.\u00a0 Born in 1834, Colonel Bonham was second son of the late Rev. John Bonham, J.P., of Ballintaggart, and of Barbarina, third daughter of the late John Norris, of Hughenden House, Bucks.\u00a0 In 1870 he married Mary, second daughter of Philip Wroughton, of Woolley Park, Berks, and there were two sons and one daughter of the marriage.\u00a0 Colonel Bonham\u2019s wife died in 1891.\u00a0 Educated at Addiscombe, Colonel Bonham joined the Royal Artillery.\u00a0 He served in the Indian Mutiny in 1857, including the defence of Lucknow, and was three times wounded.\u00a0 He was mentioned in despatches, was awarded a medal and clasp, and given the rank of Brevet-Major.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Kildare Observer 26 May 1928 Obituary Death of Col.
