Council received a high tribute from Mr. J. J. Miley, Act. Sec., and the Council staff.<\/p>\n<p>He is Mr. Peter Crinnigan, Rahan, who retired on pension in his 30th year as collector in the Carbury and Rathangan area. \u201cThe staff here, and myself, wish you every luck and happiness after more than 29 years of excellent service,\u201d wrote Mr. Miley.<\/p>\n<p>One of the longest serving officers in the Council, Mr. Crinnigan retired with a remarkable record. His collection area extended from Longwood (Co. Meath) to red Hills, Kildare, embracing a total of 300 cottages. When he handed over his books last week he left behind a record of 100% collections. \u201cThey were wonderful tenants,\u201d he said on Saturday. Many of them sent him presents on his retirement.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Crinnigan was active during the War for Independence as a member of the Carbury I.R.A. and was interned in Mullingar and Rath Camp. After the Treaty he was again imprisoned for his Republican activities and was one of the men who went on an 18 days\u2019 hunger strike in Gormanstown in 1923.<\/p>\n<p>He is an uncle of Olly Crinnigan, Kildare county goalie and prominent Carbury footballer<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Leinster Leader 16 October 1965 Rent collector for 30 years, Peter Crinnigan, Rahan An Edenderry man who retired last week from his job as rent collector for Kildare Co.
