It was a time of significant change, which impacted the lives of people throughout the country from all walks of life, a period of rebellion, war, emigration, and political and social upheaval. A marvellous, sometimes whimsical, but often tragic journey, guaranteed to move and entertain. Featuring tenor Paul Linehan with Ann Cullen on piano and violin. Songs include:\u00a0<em>The West\u2019s Asleep, The Minstrel Boy, Boolavogue, Danny Boy, A Nation Once Again, Or\u00f3, S\u00e9 Do Bheatha Bhaile<\/em>, and\u00a0<em>The Foggy Dew<\/em>. Script and narration by Mario Corrigan.<\/p>\n<p><em>The Birth of a Nation<\/em>\u00a0was performed in Lexington, Kentucky in 2018 to great acclaim and in the hallowed halls of Leinster House on Culture Night 2022. This event offers a last opportunity to mark the end of the commemoration period by reflecting on what passed 100 years ago.<\/p>\n<p>The evening will start with refreshments and the launch of\u00a0<em>A Nation is Born: Ireland in Colour 1923 \u2013 1938<\/em>\u00a0by Rathangan man, John O\u2019Byrne and Michael B. Barry, followed by the concert\u00a0<em>The Birth of a Nation<\/em>, as well a slideshow highlighting many of the events which have taken place throughout the Decade of Centenaries.<\/p>\n<p>On the night, the County Kildare Decade of Commemorations Committee will offer thanks to the many artists, performers, individuals and communities who have made the decade such a success in Kildare and provided a legacy of work for future generations.
