How to Join the Summer Reading Programme!

To sign up, just call in to your local branch for a reading card or download one by clicking the button below.

If you’re not a member of the library yet, you can give your local branch a call to sign up over the phone or fill in the simple form here https://www.librariesireland.ie/join-your-library.

How it Works

Over the summer, any books you read from the library can be added to the list on the back. This can be physical books you pick up during your booked in 30 minute session or ebooks available through BorrowBox. BorrowBox (https://fe.bolindadigital.com/wldcs_bol_fo/b2i/mainPage.html?b2bSite=4821) has special sections of books on the homepage just for Summer Stars and this is divided by reading age. These books have many copies available so there is no wait – you can get dug in!

The Prizes:

This year, when you complete your card, you can drop it back to the library and there will be a certificate at the end of the summer. If you’d like a chance at more juicy prizes there are two ways to win.

Reviews:

Each week, one review from Kildare will win a book voucher of €20. You can pick up a review page from your local library or print one off from here . Write down a few sentences of what you thought of the book and maybe draw us a picture and send it back digitally to your local library. You could be a winner! For more information check out our blog post on how to enter here.

Short Story Competition:

This year, the national summer stars programme includes a short story competition called  An Unexpected Adventure for the following age groups:

Age 6-9

Age 10-14

Age 15-18

Each category will have 14 runners up who win a €50 book voucher and 1 winner in the country who will win a tablet! All entries to be submitted in digital copy (e.g. Word, email or other) to summerstarsstory@lgma.ie by 5pm on 31st August. More details on this can be found here. https://www.librariesireland.ie/services/right-to-read/summer-stars/story-competition-an-unexpected-adventure
