By Aoife, Newbridge library

Hello everyone, Aoife from Newbridge library here with a craft to continue the Star Wars Day celebrations. Happy Revenge of the 5th Day. I am going to show you how to make Jedi Master Yoda using paper shapes. Let’s get started!

You will need:

  • One sheet of green paper (for Yoda’s head and ears)
  • One sheet of brown paper (for Yoda’s cape)
  • One sheet of white paper (for Yoda’s eyes and mouth)
  • One sheet of another colour paper (this will be for Yoda’s tunic – I used blue paper for this)
  • Two circular objects (one small, the other about medium-sized)
  • Scissors
  • Black pencil
  • Glue
  • Colouring pencils (optional)

Step 1: We are going to start with Yoda’s tunic. I used blue paper for his tunic, but any other colour of paper will work. Using your black pencil, draw the shape of a triangle on your paper. When you have drawn the triangle, use the scissors to (very carefully) cut it out. You may need an adult’s help with this.

Step 2: Time for Yoda’s head and ears! To achieve his head, use the bigger of your two circular objects, and draw around its base with your pencil, like I did here:

When you have drawn the head, on the same sheet of paper, draw two small triangles for Yoda’s ears. Cut all these out very carefully.

Step 3: Now for Yoda’s cape. Draw a rectangular shape on your brown paper, like this (I drew around my iPhone):

Repeat so you end up with two rectangles. Again cut these out very carefully.

Step 4: Using your small circular object, draw two circles on your sheet of white paper and draw a mouth as well:

Step 5: Jedi Master Yoda is almost complete! Arrange your shapes on a piece of card. When you are happy with the position of the shapes, glue them in place, like this:

That’s it everyone – may the Force be with you!
