While Jamie’ O’Connell’s book Diving for Pearls weaves the stories of six disparate characters in Dubai whose paths and cultures collide when an Emirati woman’s body is found deal in the marina. Kildare Readers Festival looks forward to welcoming back Anne Griffin for an evening of discussion about her novel Listening Still. Anne Griffin will be in conversation with book reviewer, Margaret Bonass Madden.
Anne Griffin is the author of the bestselling novels Listening Still and When All Is Said. Anne is the winner of the Irish Book Awards Newcomer of the Year 2019. Anne’s books are published in the UK and USA, and also in twenty foreign languages. Anne’s short story works have featured in, amongst others, The Irish Times and The Stinging Fly and read on BBC Radio 4. Anne has worked in Waterstones Booksellers in both Dublin and London and for various charities. Born in Dublin, Anne now lives in Westmeath, Ireland.

Unsettled: Rosaleen McDonagh in Conversation with Susan McKay

Rosaleen McDonagh writes fearlessly about a diverse experience of being Irish. Her first book ‘Unsettled’ (Skein Press) explores racism, ableism, abuse and resistance as well as the bonds of community, family and friendship. As an Irish Traveller writing from a feminist perspective, McDonagh’s essays are rich and complex, raw and honest, and, above all else, uncompromising. She is joined by Susan McKay to discuss her life and work.

Rónán Hession in conversation with Susan Tomaselli

Dublin author and musician Rónán Hession has enjoyed runaway success with his debut novel Leonard and Hungry Paul, which was chosen as the UNESCO One Dublin One Book title for 2021 and subsequently became one of the most borrowed books in Irish libraries. His follow-up novel Panenka was released in May 2021 to much critical acclaim and looks set for similar success. He will be interviewed by founder and editor of Gorse Magazine Susan Tomaselli.
