Author: Jess Rothenberg

Genre: Young Adult Fiction, Romance Fiction.

Review by: Chantelle, LCA Intern for Library HQ

Synopsis: If I’d known right then that this was the kid who would grow up to break my heart beyond repair, maybe I would’ve stayed upstairs on the phone with Tess.  Maybe I would’ve gone to bed early.  Maybe I would’ve begged my parents to take me with them though the doctor dinners bored me to death.  But I didn’t know.  Couldn’t know.  So instead I shrugged the matter off and said something really genius like, “Um, whatever”, and proceeded to fall totally, madly, crazy in love….

Review: The Catastrophic History of You & Me follows the main character, Brie as she dies – quite literally,of a broken heart.

Who knew that life after death was a real thing? As real as her name causing people to ask, “Like the cheese?” But life after death is whole-heartedly true.  Just….  Not the way she thought it would be.

Still processing the ache in her chest where her heart broke for a boy, she is set upon revenge.

Willing to help her? Patrick.  He stands by her side as she battles the five stages of grief.  They laugh, they joke, they plot and scheme against those who hurt her.

What could possibly go wrong?  It’s just a little harmless revenge after all.  A little payback to the boy who caused her heart to stop in more ways than one….

In this book, written by Jess Rothenberg, I can guarantee that your heart will break in two as you feel a certain kinship with Brie.  If you enjoy an emotional rollercoaster, waste no time in picking up this book.
