Author: Elena Armas

Genre: Contemporary novel. Romance. Fiction.

Review by: Chantelle, LCA Intern for Library HQ

Synopsis: One minor, totally inconsequential, stupid fib forces Catalina Martín to employ the help of a man she completely abhors. Aaron Blackford is tall, black haired and blue eyed, he’s the perfect fake American boyfriend to parade about at her parents’ home while visiting for her sister’s wedding.

Catalina and Aaron begin their fake torrid love affair for the sake of her sanity and the benefit of her family but along the way the “Fake” begins to seem startling real. . .

Review: Set in New York City, USA, Catalina Martín is hesitant, if not completely opposed to allowing Aaron Blackford’s generous offer to help her out of a bind. That bind revolves around her incredibly caring, meddling family. Family who she impulsively informed that she was in fact in a relationship with an American man. Now when she’s supposed to board a plane with her non-existent boyfriend, she’s completely freaking out. That’s where Aaron comes in. He agrees to the fake relationship in exchange for her help in his own personal matters.

What could possibly go wrong? It’s not like their fake relationship would ever blossom into a daunting truth. Nope, Not possible at all.

The Spanish love deception is a humorous, embarrassing, adult novel that is guaranteed to wash away any and all ailments you might have. I found the characters witty, amusing and very believable. This was a great novel to just relax with and totally forget about the worries of the day.
