Synopsis: Brick is recovering from an accident that has rendered his career obsolete. Irate that his career is over, and confused and hurt over an accident that killed his best friend, Brick pushes away not only his family but his wife, Maggie.
When his father comes home for his birthday, the entire family is forced to come to terms with years of pent up aggression, annoyance, and mendacity.
Review: Cat on a hot tin roof is a drama film produced in 1958 centering around a number of misguided ideas and values such as “objects can buy happiness†and the more expensive a gift, the more you love someone. It covers a bunch of other issues within the family such as Big Daddy’s inevitable death.
The characters in Cat on a Hot Tin Roof are dragged through a tension riddled night in order to drill down to the bedrock of a cataclysmic problem that has been building for months and years.
A fight transpires between Brick and his father, Big Daddy, and things unfold from that point on.
Not only is Brick forced to admit the events that unravelled between him and his friend,Skipper, but he must hear why his wife was with Skipper that night when he died.
This film is rife with valuable life lessons. While it is filled with humorous scenes that help to ease the tension, it tackles a lot of more serious issues such as personal values, the value of friendship, trust and family, as well as death being a natural part of life.
Produced in 1958, the film has a wonderful cast of much loved Hollywood icons who excel in their roles and make the movie an outstanding, must watch movie.
