Her destiny is to fight a war with the Order of St. George, a society set on slaying dragons. Yet when Ember meets a soldier of St. George, they strike up an unsuspecting friendship. Neither are aware of who the other person is until it’s too late.
A war is coming, now the only question is, which cause is the right cause?
Review: Talon is the first instalment in this series, with five books in total. The fantasy world concocted skillfully by Julie Kagawa sets off in Crescent Beach, where you meet Ember Hill. She’s fierce, committed, obstinate at times, and desperate to be free. Her dragon demands it, and she is driven to obey her true form. Â
Ember is no fool, she has been raised from birth to know where her loyalty lies. She’s aware she has been trained for a purpose greater than herself.
Yet when she meets Garett–A soldier for St. George, everything becomes muddled. Garett makes her smile, laugh, feel free.
But Ember isn’t aware of who Garett truly is, and Garett suspects her of being a dragon–in which case it is his duty as a soldier to slay her.
Now the war between Talon and St. George is on the horizon, breathing down their necks. Ember and Garett must make a decision; Fight in a battle they no longer believe in? Or risk a third option never before conceived – Flee.
Talon is an exciting teen fantasy that really got me engrossed and kept my attention glued to the book from start to fantastic finish.
