Synopsis: Laura is a wannabe actress who had a bit of a mishap when she took to the stage in a previous role and couldn’t get her lines out. She struggles after this event, but really wants to make it as an actress, deciding to try again when a new opportunity arises in her town. The new theatre is finally opening its doors and they’re looking for a female lead – is this Laura’s chance to shine?
Review: This story had me wanting to find out more the whole time I was reading and when I reached the twist at the end, I was truly shocked. Reading about Laura’s struggles with her mental health was very insightful, and I think this book is very current in a time where mental health is an important issue for many people. I felt that this book really picked up on that and the fact that the character Laura was very likeable and very, very funny just proves that mental health issues can happen to anyone.
I really enjoyed this book and would give it 8/10 and would definitely recommend it to others.
