Twelve-year-old Artemis Fowl is a millionaire, a genius -and, above all, a criminal mastermind. But even Artemis doesn’t know what he’s taken on when he kidnaps a fairy, Captain Holly Short of the LEPrecon Unit. These aren’t the fairies of bedtime stories- they’re dangerous.

This is one of those books that everyone should read. One of the things that I like about it is that it’s set in Ireland. Artemis is such an amazing character. He is brilliant, well thought out and just overall a criminal mastermind. One of the amazing things about this book is that Artemis is very much an anti-hero. It’s not often that you read about an anti-hero that you just love, especially in children’s literature. I also love the relationship between Artemis and Holly. Artemis does not get challenged often, so it really does him some good to be challenged by Holly. This is one of my favourite books, and I truly believe that it is just as good as the likes of the Harry Potter or Percy Jackson series.
