Title: Fated

Author: Alyson Noel

Genre: Fantasy Fiction. Science-Fiction.

Review by: Chantelle, LCA Intern for Library HQ

Synopsis: Bizarre things have been happening to Daire Santos for most of her life. Animals follow her, crows caw at her, and glowing people materialise out of nowhere. Concerned for her daughter, her mother sends her off to her grandmother. But when Daire reaches the sleepy nothing town she finds that things just got a whole lot more complicated.

Review: Daire has spent her life being stifled, being told that materialising glowing people aren’t real. That the pecking, clawing birds that follow her around are just a figment of her imagination. But when she enters a place in New Mexico called Enchantment, she realises that everyone was wrong. So, incredibly wrong. Daire meets her grandmother-from her father’s side, and learns that not only was she sane, but her purpose on this earth is bigger than calling out ‘Ghost!’ She’s a Soul Seeker. And now she’s in deep trouble. . .

Fated is the first instalment in the Soul Seekers series. An excellent fantasy world to lose yourself in, if only for a couple of hours. It is an absolute must read, so if you’re getting ready with a holiday reading list, make sure to add this one today!
