Synopsis: Ben is bored to tears when he is left to spend time with his perpetually boring grandmother. All the old-timer does is play Scrabble and eat cabbage soup. However there’s a side to his grandmother that he’s never known. Ben soon discovers that his unexciting grandmother used to be an international jewel thief. Together they have the know-how to cause mayhem.
Review: Gangsta Granny is a children’s novel written by British author and comedian David Walliams, first published in 2011. The novel is simultaneously funny, heartwarming, and thrilling. The humour appeals to children and adults, the characters are well-developed, and the plot engaging. The novel addresses family, friendship and is relatable to readers of all ages. David William’s style of writing is extremely simple to read, making it an excellent read for children who may not be confident readers as of yet. Overall, Gangsta Granny is an enjoyable and entertaining read and be sure to place a request on it on our Library Catalogue.
