Genre: Fantasy fiction.  High fantasy. Romantic fantasy.

Synopsis: Bryce Quinlan used to light up Crescent City, partying all night in the clubs where the strict classes of Angel, Shifter, Human and Fae merge into a sea of beautiful bodies.  And then a Demon murdered her closest friends. Two years later, when the supposed killer is behind bars but the crimes start up again, the city’s leader commands her to investigate. Alongside an enslaved fallen Angel, Hunter Alathar, who is working for his freedom.

Review: House of Earth and Blood is yet another excellent read penned by Sarah J. Maas. She builds a creative and wondrous world where the reader is able to lose themselves within the fantasy. The reader experiences Bryce Quinlan’s battle with the grief of not only losing her friends, but one of her best friends. The friend who was supposed to be by her side no matter what.

Confusion over what or who killed the group, drives Bryce head first into a world of sordid lies, misconceptions, half-truths, and plain old naïveté. Beside her, a man chained by powerful magic. Hunter Alathar and Bryce not only battle demons, by their attraction to one another…

I would strongly recommend House of Earth and Blood to anyone who enjoys fantasy realms and is up to having their heart strings plucked a time or two.
