Synopsis: Percy was a normal kid going to school, playing basketball, hanging out with friends and skateboarding. The usual things kids his age do. All of that changed when he accidentally vaporises his maths teacher. Now he spends his days and nights battling monsters and generally trying to stay alive.Â
Review: The Percy Jackson series follows a young boy named Perseus Jackson, as he learns of his half-blood origins. He is Half-boy, half-god.Â
His father has yet to claim him but Percy has a vague memory of the man, whoever he is. In the meantime he’s forced to venture to a camp especially designed for him and others like him. The path isn’t easy, and nobody ever said it was going to be.Â
Along the way monsters are gunning for him and everyone Percy has ever cared about. Soon Percy must learn to become a “Hero” and how to fight these monsters. But he’s not entirely alone. He’s got two new friends who are willing to fight alongside him.Â
Annabeth and Grover team up with Percy as he is falsely accused of stealing Zeus’s lightning bolt. Percy has to stop an impending war before the very world they inhabit can implode and swallow everyone whole.Â
In the very first Percy Jackson book we are introduced to the world of gods and all the dangers out there for boys and girls who are half-human and half-god.Â
It’s adventurous, mythological, and highly amusing with a few tense scenes that leave you holding your breath.
The series is good for all ages, especially if mythology intrigues you and you are in a need of escaping the real world and embarking on an epic adventure that will leave you feeling like you are a hero as well. This is a very entertaining series and well worth the read.
