Title: Maybe Someday

Author: Colleen Hoover

Genre: Contemporary novel. Romance. Fiction.

Review by: Chantelle, LCA Intern for Library HQ

Synopsis: Sydney lives in her perfect little world where she has a fabulous boyfriend, great friends, college life is swell, and everything she could ever want is easily within her grasp.

What could be more perfect?

But just like a house of cards, one day that flawless world comes tumbling down and suddenly everything seems worlds apart. Her only lifeline seems to be a guitar player she barely knows, living across from her.

Review: Maybe Someday is a perfect romance novel to curl up in bed with. It has all the bells and whistles guaranteed for the ultimate reading downtime: Betrayal, heartbreak, romance, humour.

The novel focuses on twenty-two year old Sydney and her cheating boyfriend, Hunter. She is horrified to find out that he’s been having an affair. Everything in Sydney’s life is seemingly shattered with one swift metaphorical punch to the gut.

Lost, hurting, and confused, Sydney finds herself living with the guitar player across from her apartment. Ridge and Hunter could not be more different if they tried, which is probably a good thing.

Together Sydney and Ridge embark on a mission to restore order and balance to her life. To pick up the pieces that shattered and attempt to glue them back together.

Pretty soon Sydney begins to fantasise about “Maybe Someday”.

But things are never simple, and what you desire is not always in your grasp. All too soon, those very precious pieces of Sydney’s life they began to glue together, may shatter into dust, all over again.

I thoroughly enjoyed this novel. It has just the right combination of romance, heartbreak and humour to make for a perfect lazy day read.
