Synopsis: Evie’s entire life has been about writing a screenplay. It’s her dream, her passion. But that passion has been stifled by her infuriating boss. The man depends on her for everything. She’s gone beyond the call of duty, so surely she should have been promoted years ago? But he doesn’t think she can do it. In a cruel twist of events, Evie can get her wish, only if she can convince their one and only client to finish his script. A script that the man has been working on for months, and downright refuses to write. Evie will lose her job if she can’t convince Ezra Chester to finish the script to a Hollywood Rom-Com. Can she manage the insurmountable feat? Or will Evie see her career careen towards the ground and shatter into tiny, irremediable pieces?
There is nothing more frustrating than a boss who relies on you to do his job. What’s more infuriating? A boy pretending to be a man. In this case, Evie has to deal with Ezra Chester. She’s dependent on him to complete his Hollywood script on a Rom-Com, but the man flat out refuses. He wants proof that these “Meet-Cutes†actually work. In desperation she strikes up a deal with the arrogant boy feigning to be a successful man, She’lll organise Meet-Cutes and prove that they work. In return he’ll complete his script. Which in turn means Evie will keep her job.
Not too difficult. All she has to do is organise a Harry meets Sally moment. The†blue door” in Notting Hill or Jack never letting Rose go in the Titanic.
That shouldn’t be too difficult, right? Surely Someone will fall for Evie. She’ll prove that movie screen love is real. That it can happen in real life. What could possibly go wrong?
Well in this wonderfully witty novel, it seems EVERYTHING can and will go wrong. It is clear that love cannot be planned and happens in the most unlikely places, at the most inopportune moment, with the most unbelievable people!
