An exciting, fast paced book for teenagers aged 13/14+, Hold Back The Tide is a blend of fantasy and horror. This chilling, atmospheric tale of adventure and the consequences of greed and secrecy is certain to leave its marks (or should that be bites?) on the reader long after the final page is turned. The characters are well fleshed out and compelling, if not always likeable and the plot takes many twists. Melinda Salisbury also brings back the horror of monsters, which is refreshing at a time when so many traditional monsters such as vampires and werewolves are being reshaped into lovelorn bad boys.
