ECHO OF LEINSTER TRAGEDY

THE LEINSTER LEADER 1 MARCH  1919.

Echo of Leinster Tragedy

On Monday in London Probate Court, Mr. Justice Coleridge had before him a motion to presume the death of Mrs. Harriett Frances Maxwell, widow of Col. Robert John Maxwell, Hampton Court Palace.

Mr. Armstrong White said in September, 1918, Mrs. Maxwell went on a visit to her cousin, Baroness de Robeck, at Osberstown, Sallins, Co. Kildare. On October 9 she left her cousin’s residence for England, sailing in the S.S. Leinster, in which vessel she engaged a berth. It was submitted that Mrs. Maxwell perished on that occasion, as there had been no trace of her since that date. Neither had her body been recovered.

His lordship gave leave to presume the death as on or since October 10th.
