First Tractor in Ireland

A fascinating article was discovered in the labyrinth that is our digitised newspaper collection housed in Local Studies. The article was published in the Leinster Leader in 1971 and though in itself a touching memorial, is also a wonderful piece of local and national history – a remarkable account of the contribution of one notable Athy farmer, who, during his long life made an important contribution towards the development of agricultural practice in Kildare and indeed, the whole of Ireland.
