ANNUAL STAFF DANCE

Leinster Leader 15 January 1938

The staff of Wallpapers, Ltd., Kildare, held their first annual dance on Friday, 7th inst., the function being a brilliant success. The venue was the White Abbey Hall, which was most artistically decorated for the occasion, and the attendance was one of the largest seen at a dance in Kildare for a considerable time past. Carnival effects and novelties added to the picturesque character of the scene – the latter being enhanced by the excellent and novel lighting effects, for which Mr. J. Kennedy, Kildare. was responsible.

The music was provided by the Pembroke Orpheus Band, under its talented leader, Ben Johnson, and the work of this popular combination contributed not a little to the unalloyed pleasure of the night.

The catering arrangements were first-class and the Dance Committee, of which Miss E. Balfe was hon. secretary, is to be congratulated on the all-round success of their organisation. The other members of the committee were – Mrs. M. Balfe, Miss A. Johnston, Miss L. Fitzpatrick, Messrs. J. J. Conlan, Jos. Fleming, James Rogers, Joseph Rogers, D. Fitzpatrick.
