MR. JACK BERNEY, NAAS
Leinster Leader 12 March 1927
Mr. Jack Berney, Naas
Deep regret was occasioned in sporting and other circles in County Kildare at the news of the death of Mr. Jack Berney, son of Mr. Patrick Berney, Silloth Hill, Kilcullen. The late Mr. Berney contracted a chill some months ago which later developed into pneumonia to which, despite all that medical skill could do, he succumbed on Sunday, 6th, inst., at the early age of 29 years, fortified by all the rites of Holy Church.
Mr. Jack Berney was a well-known sportsman and jockey and a keen follower to hounds. He was most popular with all classes and his loss will be deeply deplored by all. He was a member of an old and respected County Kildare family long associated with the sporting traditions of the county.
Requiem Office and Mass for the soul of the deceased was celebrated in the Church of Our Lady and St. David’s, Naas, on Tuesday, and immediately afterwards the funeral, which was of large and representative dimensions took place to the family burial place at New Abbey, Kilcullen.
To Mr. Patrick Berney and other members of the family the deepest sympathy is extended in their bereavement.
